George Syrovatka DownhillThe 34th Annual George Syrovatka Downhill is scheduled for March 2014 on the Haynes trail at Jay Peak. Racers often reach speeds over 80 and sometimes over 90mph! The races are open to anyone who wants to see just how fast they can go on a pair of skis.
In addition to being on a timed course, a speed trap is placed at the fastest part of every course, so you know exactly how fast you were going. The races are fun, safe and nothing short of exciting! An award ceremony and party follow the event. A $500 cash prize is awarded to the fastest skier of the day. We look forward to seeing you at the race!
How does going incredibly fast on skis help fight Leukemia? The awards ceremony features a raffle. Every dollar goes to benefit The Leukemia Research Foundation. Prizes include skies and an assortment of other great items.
Cancer is costly: physically, emotionally, and economically. Funding research to find a cure is the only permanent solution. The ability to translate science from laboratory research into effective therapies is vital. The rate of progress in cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention must continue until the disease is conquered.
